Hope Lutheran Sunday School Program

Hope Lutheran Church offers Sunday School for children in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Our united teaching team consists of experienced educators with a heart for fostering faith formation in youth. We have a dedicated group of core teachers and substitutes who work together under the guidance and leadership of our Director of Youth Ministry, Rebecca Evans.

"Bible Adventures" is a class focused on illuminating stories from the Old and New Testaments for kids in grades K-5. This is taught by Jennifer Peuker, Christine Sage, Rebecca Evans, and Monica Carr. Amanda Corcoran and Dawn Smith serve as substitutes as needed. "The Journey" focuses on application of one's faith to one's life as a Christian, studying various classic Christian books as well as direct Bible study with a lot of discussion. This class is co-led by Rebecca Evans and Cristie Lea and is open to students in grades 6-12 who are not currently enrolled in Confirmation class. At Hope Lutheran, families traditionally opt to have their 7th-grade child start Confirmation (if discussed among the student, their family, and Pastor Aaron, with the determination made that they wish to be Confirmed), which lasts 2 school years (typically) or 3 if need be. Confirmation class is held during the Sunday School time slot (immediately after worship on Sundays). A middle school student or high school student is welcome to attend "The Journey" before and after being confirmed.

In order to provide parents of current and prospective Sunday School students a glimpse of the content that is covered in our program here at Hope, I have created a document (please click on button below, which links to that document) called a "scope and sequence" for Bible Adventures (the K-5 class, which operates on a 3-year cycle). I am still fine-tuning the scope and sequence of The Journey (the grades 6-12 class), as new primary material continues to be integrated or replaced based on what proves most edifying for the students.

If you are new to Hope and have questions about Sunday School, please reach out to Pastor Aaron or to Rebecca Evans, and we will be happy to give you any information you may need in order to choose where to enroll your child. It is our joy and honor to work with youth of all ages in order to help them encounter Jesus Christ, know His love, and grow in faith.
